About

Titanskull is perhaps easiest to categorize as part of the new wave of traditional heavy metal. Hailing from Los Angeles, California, and simultaneously the Stygian depths of Hades, Titanskull blends the modern with the classic. Their debut album, Titanomachy, was released in 2022, followed by the EP The Restless Shades in 2024.

Their latest full-length release is While It Burns. Drawing from the same mythic sources, Titanskull forges ahead with its unique blend of sophistication and accessibility. Echoes of the bardic tradition ring out in electrified melody, compositional complexity, and raw emotion. Full of pathos and Pytho, the old is honored with the new. Thought is woven through metaphor and multiplicity of meaning, balanced by the direct immediacy of sound.

A tragic poet takes the stage wearing a vulgar mask. The god of illusion joins the god of knowledge to mediate oracles through a net of fleeting sensory perception.

Plato would have recognized the danger. History will recognize the greatness. Every empire falls, but dead gods live forever. Heed the call of Titanskull!

Biography

Titanskull was formed, originally, back in 2013, when musicians from a once ill fated band embarked on a new adventure together and calling upon other brethren from other known bands and jams and hence formed Titanskull. The band made some progress in song writing and rehearsals, but eventually had to part ways with their second guitar player due to conflicts of commitment. Eventually, the drummer was lost as well, due to other responsibility and commitments. The band struggled in dark times, and wandered the wastes of LA, until a light shown upon them in 2018 and reinforcements for the long adventure answered a summons.

Enter Chris Mitsch. Summoned by Bill Villayne. They once shared in an adventure with a previous project. This was a new era for Titanskull, and the era that has existed and evolved to present day. Chris and JC became a writing duo to match all writing duos with their similar sonic tastes and general attitudes towards music, it became a great friendship in writing and production. During this time, Titanskull self recorded and produced a Demo that was released to Bandcamp and eventually their first full length album, Titanomachy. The party grew further when Taylor Santre, a long time adventuring partner of Chris’s, joined as the replacement bass player for JT for a time. JT eventually returned and Taylor moved over to guitars and hence forth, The Restless Shades EP was released.

The band continues to this day in this form. Currently working on their second full length release.
